Born in Devakottai-TN, 1957.

An alumnus of the Govt. College of Arts Crafts, Chennai with Fine Arts Paintings and Post graduate with Industrial Design Ceramic; and he studied advanced Lithography in Tamarind Institute (USA) during 1991 and was the Artist in Residence at the Oxford University in 1996. A recipient of several awards, honours and residencies including the Fulbright Grant, Charles Wallace India Trust grant, International Visitorship programme of USIS, and Senior Fellowship, Govt. of India, he was invited to visit France & Germany and United states by the Cultural wing of those countries and Australia by the invitation of Min. Ext. Affairs, Govt. of Australia.

He has visited several museums and galleries in USA, UK, France, Germany, Australia, Sweden, and Cruise experience trip to Italy, Turkey, Greece and Croatia. The awards that reached him were: National Award, International Prints Biennales of Bhopal and Taiwan and most recently received an Award from RAZA Foundation for Visual Arts for his Dynamic Vision, innovative Spirit and Aesthetic Sensibilities. He was invited by several international universities and art institutions to conduct workshops in print-making including Art Academy of Cincinnati, University of New Mexico, Indiana State University, Bloomington Kansas State University, Royal College of Arts, London and M.S. University, Baroda. His works are included in many important auctions including Christie’s, Sotheby’s, Osian’s and Bonhams and Bid &Hammer.

He has participated in numerous international prints exhibitions and important national level curated exhibitions by invitation; held 19 one man shows across the country and also two in Holland, two in United States and two in U.K. He has curated Major ‘Trends in Indian Art’ the special exhibition organized by Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi to commemorate the golden Jubilee of India independence in 1997 and also served as International Commissioner in 1995 and member of the international Jury in 2008 for Bharat Bhavan International Prints Biennale, 1995 and 2008 also a member of the jury (for the primary selection) in the National Exhibition of Art 2008 He has served as a jury in several exhibitions and art competitions around the country including the national exhibition of Art. Board member and Life Trustee at Dakshina Chitra / Madras Craft Foundation; and art advisor at Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai.

His works are in prestigious collections including National Gallery of Modern Art and Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi; British Museum & Victoria Albert Museum – London; Oxford University, Oxford; Cincinnati Art Museum, Tamarind Institute, and Library of Congress, Washington-USA; Taipei Art Museum, Taiwan; Boras Museum, Sweden.

His works and articles were published in numerous books catalogues and art magazines around the worlds most recently in ‘A guide to 101 Modern & contemporary Indian Artists of India’, book complied by Amirta Jhaveri, ‘India 20, conversation with contemporary artists’, the book written by Anupa Mehta and ‘Freedom’ Sixty years after independence book authored by group of eminent personalities like Amartya Sen, Roberto Calassso and Gopal Krishna Gandhi which was published by Art & heritage Foundation.

He is Currently Regional Secretary of the Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai.
